Break Day 1 - I finally managed to install Linux but with a different distro that is pop_os ||#Break
July 23, 2020
Congratulations to me as I finally managed to install Linux with pop_os distro without destroying my windows again like I did yesterday. It was a lot of work to be very honest, I had to install windows and ubuntu so many times. I managed to install ubuntu on a different drive (HDD) but it was slow and I had many problems like I couldn’t find an option for Brightness adjustment even from settings, my second display was not being detected, and so on. So, I deleted that Ubuntu setup, tried again by installing it on the same drive as windows but different partitions but I faced the problem like last time that I wasn’t getting a grub menu to load into ubuntu. I googled a lot, learned few things about BIOS even but at last, nothing worked for me.
But I was stubborn as I wasted days over this and lost my data so I was adamant on getting it to work, I searched about other distros and learned about POP_OS which is based on ubuntu and let me tell you I followed just one tutorial and ALHUMDULILLAH (Thanks to Allah) it worked smoothly. I was getting into POP OS by default as there is no grub menu installed by default so I had to use Boot manager to get into windows. I am working on getting the grub menu in POP OS so I won’t have to get into Boot manager again and again and hopefully I will be done with it soon.
Gosh, it was supposed to be a break day but I enjoyed playing with my system and learning so much about the BIOS and other things I usually wouldn’t have touched. Not to forget I had to switch my SATA settings in BIOS system configuration to AHCI to get everything working apart from switching off secure boot and fast boot. I learned a lot and I feel happy that I was calm and kept going on, I have improved so much in the aspect of accepting myself and my efforts while staying calm and satisfied.
Work on improving yourself every day. ~ Fab
